Leanne, a psychic going through some relapsing into her alcoholic ways, tells her to stay out of the basement. Oh, and Claire has an interaction with an annoying girl at a nearby coffee shop, in a pre-fame/perfectly cast performance by Lena Dunham.Ĭlaire sees and hears from a ghost. Their boredom is punctuated by attempts at ghost hosting – with Claire more successful in the pursuit than Luke – and the arrival of a former TV star, Leanne Rease-Jones (Kelly McGillis). Luke runs a website about the haunted history (and present) of the Yankee Pedlar. A casual observer (or the viewer) can tell that Luke is in love with Claire, but she is oblivious to this fact. Despite a good 15 years or so between them in age, they have the easy sort of friendship and camaraderie that develops between coworkers bored out of their minds. The Yankee-Pedlar Inn, a historic and allegedly haunted hotel in its last week of service before being bulldozed over – is staffed by a skeleton crew of Luke (Pat Healy) and Claire (Sara Paxton). In many ways, The Innkeepers is really a study of lonely people – and arguably lonely ghosts. While some of the sound effects in the trailer aren’t in the film, basically this trailer is all of the actual action condensed into a couple of minutes.
